The mission of the Veiled Prophet Community Service Initiative (CSI) is “to coordinate and focus the resources of the Veiled Prophet Organization in an ongoing, sustainable effort to enrich the quality of life in the greater St. Louis community.”

Started in 2003, CSI’s purpose is to involve members and their daughters in community service, as part of their overall relationship with the VP organization.  The initial focus was on involvement by the young women who were being presented at the annual Veiled Prophet Ball.  Today, the project includes members and their families of all ages.

The Order’s participation increases each year and reflects its ongoing commitment to the founding purpose, “to promote commerce and service to the community.”  The VP Community Service Initiative is managed by an oversight committee that plans the overall strategy and partnership opportunities for each year's program. An operations group meets weekly to organize and support each project.

During 2009, almost 400 young women, their fathers and families worked during the spring and summer on a number of projects including: the planting of flowers for Operation Brightside, the renovation of a home and other assistance for Beyond Housing, landscaping, painting and other work at several St. Louis Public Schools and landscaping work for Forest Park Forever. These workdays, totaled more than 3,000 volunteer hours. The young women who volunteered for CSI will be honored for their community service at the annual Veiled Prophet Ball.
