Community Service
The mission of the VP Community Service Initiative (CSI) is “To improve the lives of all who call St. Louis home” Started in 2003, CSI has provided members and their daughters opportunities for community service, as part of their overall relationship with the VP organization. The initial focus was on involvement by the young women who were being presented at the annual Veiled Prophet Ball.
Today, the project includes members and their families of all ages. Participation increases each year and reflects our ongoing commitment to the founding purpose, “to promote commerce and service to the community.” In 2018 we are partnered with 25 charities, providing volunteers for over 38 projects throughout the year.
The impact of this grass roots volunteer effort continues to grow! Since inception of the Community Service Initiative in 2003 our charity partners and projects have increased and so has our reach. Here are just some of the ways we are making a difference!
- We have worked over 255 projects that have been filled by over 6,100 volunteer positions since beginning in 2003
- We have renovate or repair 40 homes for Beyond Housing
- We have packed more than 40,000 meals for Food Outreach
- We work on beautification and restoration projects throughout St. Louis.
- We have cumulatively provided over 24,000 hours of service to the St. Louis Community.
- We raised funding and developed an outdoor learning center at Biome STEAM School.
- We have packed over 6,700 care packages for deployed troops.
- We designed and paint murals for North Side Community School and Girls Inc.
